Testimonials
Dr. Randy has helped me immensely as I wrestled with big-picture ideas regarding international educational research in technology and second language acquisition. Specifically, he guided my thinking in order for me to see actionable next steps for operationalizing impactful research.
His professionalism, expertise, and willingness to be available and approachable make him an effective mentor and coach for a doctoral researcher like myself.

When I began studying towards my master’s degree several years ago, I was highly motivated and on track towards obtaining my diploma quickly and with top marks.
And then a combination of health and family issues, a full-time job, and the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, nullified my careful planning and undermined my motivation. My thesis project was pushed to the side as I focused on impelling commitments.
However, my unfinished thesis seemed to loom in the background of my life, giving rise to feelings of incompetence and failure. I thus decided that it was time to recommit, conduct my research, and finish my thesis, but felt so disconnected from the topic and the process that I despaired of ever being able to achieve this goal.
A preliminary conversation with Dr. Randy changed all of that. His natural curiosity, genuine interest in my field of research, and total lack of judgement regarding my unfinished thesis got me excited in my project all over again and dispelled any feelings of inadequacy. He then became a powerful ally, committed to doing his utmost to support me as I researched and wrote. As a self-defined “research nerd”, he was able to suggest helpful texts to clarify my research process. He is an outstanding listener and asked thought-provoking questions.
Over the next few months, regular coaching sessions addressed questions or obstacles to the writing process, and I committed to sending him completed sections between sessions, so he would have time to review these and offer feedback.
I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Randy for providing invaluable accountability and support throughout my thesis-writing process and allowing me to finish my studies.
